Marie Clapper

Although I’ve been writing the posts for GrandpaLyle’s Notebook, Marie is the real writer in our family. For most of our forty plus years, she’s been writing stories about us and our families. Her work is such an integral part of our history, some of it simply had to be included on this site.

The following is a bio is from her book, EveryDay Matters: One Woman Savors Ordinary Days in Extraordinary Ways, which is available from Amazon:

Marie Clapper and her husband Lyle have six children . . . two are his, two are hers, and two are theirs. She spends her time with her family; the business she and Lyle own and operate; and friendships formed at work, at church, and throughout her life.

Marie is president/publisher of Clapper Communications Companies, publishers of Crafts ’n Things, Pack-O-Fun, Painting, The Cross Stitcher, and Bridal Crafts. She joined the 43-year-old Des Plaines, Illinois, company in 1976 as a writer for Pack-O-Fun.

Clapper, who has been listed in Who’s Who since 1988, is on the Boards of Directors of the Magazine Publishers of America and the Hobby Industry Association. In addition to writing EveryDay Matters, Marie Clapper is president of Clapper Communications Companies, which has published craft magazines since 1951.
